What Are Dental Lasers?
A laser is essentially a highly concentrated beam of light. Lasers come in a variety of wavelengths, some of which are highly effective at creating incisions in the tissues of the mouth. In our office, we use a soft tissue laser. Lasers have been in use in dentistry for decades now, and they have a strong track record of providing care that is safe, precise, and highly effective. Types of Laser Dental Treatments
Lasers have lots of applications in dentistry! In our office, we frequently use a laser to treat lip and tongue-tie, address gum disease, and perform gum recontouring/esthetic crown lengthening. Lip & Tongue-Tie Treatment
Lip-tie and tongue-tie are conditions that are present at birth; they occur when overly thick or short bands of tissue restrict movement of the oral structures. A laser can modify or remove the restrictive tissue and allow for a greater range of motion. Lip and tongue-tie treatment is often performed on infants, but it can also be done for older children and adults.
Periodontal Therapy
