
For decades, metal (amalgam) fillings were the go-to solution for treating cavities. They’re durable and long-lasting—but as dental technology advances, so does our understanding of their potential risks. A 2016 study found that individuals with more than eight amalgam fillings had higher levels of mercury in their blood, raising valid concerns about the long-term safety of these restorations.
